Nemostars remain the only men’s club from Uganda to be ranked by the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB). The two-time league winners will thursday fight for dismal 17th position compared to last year’s 11th place as the 33rd edition of Africa Club Championship climaxes in Sousse Tunisia.
Nemostars play Sudanese outfit Al-Nahdha after finishing fifth in their group with just four points after one win and four loses. “We came here to better out position from the last tournament, but it didn’t happen,” Tom Paul Amou.
“We also failed to maintain the 11th position we managed last time, but there places to fight for, all we can do for now is try and finish in a decent position,” Amou added. The side will have to up their reception, court cover and improve their net defense as they have let them down in the games they lost at the preliminary round.
“We have been careless at times in some of the games we lost,” captain George Aporu reckoned. “Though on other occasions the opponents were too hard for us, Al-Nahdha is a game every one believes we can win convincingly and we don’t want to let ourselves down,” he added.
If Nemostars win against Al-Nahdha who are searching for their first win of the tournament, then they will be drawn against another side to seal the 17th position.
