The opening of the 2025 Corporate Sports Network (CSN) season set the bar high; leaving fans eagerly awaiting what will come at the next outing that happens at the Makerere University Business School (MUBS) grounds, where companies will compete in football and basketball.

Rhyming along the theme “Networking through sports”, the second season of the Corporate Sports Network (CSN) officially kicked off on Sunday, 23rd February 2025 at Luzira Prisons grounds in Kampala.

There was a thrilling mix of high-octane football action, unexpected surprises, and the kind of dramatic moments that make football such a beloved sport.

Throughout the day, the spectators were deservedly treated to a bouquet of goals that arrived in all fashions; simple tap-ins, headers, powerful bullet shots, the spectacular overhead kicks and yes, a couple of odd own goals.

Prior to the goals proper; in abundance were skills displayed from close ball control, take-ons, fancy dribbles, step overs, fluid passing and accurate shots towards the goal.

In some of the day’s shockers, Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) edged the 2024 overall defending Champions Centenary Bank 1-0.

Tropical Bank had arguably the biggest score-line victory on the day, winning in convincing fashion 4-0 over newcomers Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA).

The same team (Tropical Bank) humbled DHL 3-0.

 Debutants, ABSA bank held Centenary Bank to a stalemate having earlier fallen 0-1 to Vision Group.

What stood out most during the opening rounds was the strong sense of unpredictability.

Teams came out with a vengeance, defying expectations and delivering some of the most entertaining football with the likes of Africa Global Logistics, DHL and SGA Security putting up electrifying displays.

The atmosphere was equally exciting off the field, with a legion of traditional drummers ferried in by URA providing the off field entertainment.

The highlight though was the Prisons Brass Band that performed popular military brass and secular hits.

For players, the season opener provided a special vibe—there’s a tangible hunger in their performances, as they pushed to make their mark.

A new game, Darts was introduced, on popular demand from the Chief Executive Officers (CEO’s) and top managers.

Darts join the already packed menu of games as football, woodball, netball, basketball, athletics, volleyball, swimming, pool, tug-of-war and other fun games as the sack race.

CASE Hospital and Uganda Red Cross Society have partnered with the Corporate Sports Network to provide medical services for the league.

The Corporate Sports Network is one unique interface where the corporate meet, refresh and relax; away from the demanding and stressing work schedules. We are humbled for the companies taking part.
