Avengers suffered a crushing 52-14 (35-03 at halftime) defeat against Black Pearls at home in Entebbe.
This was in Round Seven, the midway point of the 2025 women’s Uganda Rugby Premiership.
At no point in the eighty minutes were Avengers in control of the match. The hosts kicked just one penalty in the first half through Amina Nalujja. Nalujja added two penalties in the second half and Florence Babirye scored their lone consolation try.

Black Pearls wasted no time in Entebbe. The visitors scored within the first ten minutes and had a try in the last play of the match.
Inevitable Emilly Lekuru scored five tries, Zulaika Mukyala one and Bushira Namutebi kicked one conversion. But it was Charlotte Thereza Mudoola with two tries and five conversions who won the player of the match award.
Black Pearls made it look all too easy but coach Koyokoyo Buteme begs to differ.
”It’s not that it’s becoming easy because we have our struggles. I think what’s making it easy is the quality of the play from the other teams. But it’s not that my players are playing particularly well because I’m not happy with how they are playing. Just the quality from the other teams is even worse,” Buteme said to Kawowo Sports after fulltime.
The three-time defending champions bagged a seventh straight bonus point victory and assumed top spot on the table at the end of the first round.
