For the fifth consecutive season, St Lawrence University made it to the knock out stages of the Pepsi sponsored University Football League.
A gallant display on Thursday, 13th March 2025 witnessed St Lawrence University recover from a goal deficit to win the contest against Uganda Christian University (UCU) 2-1 in group C.
St. Lawrence come from behind to beat UCU and finish atop Group C to qualify for the Knockout Stage for a 5th consecutive season.
Haruna Nyanzi gave the visiting UCU the lead on the stroke of half-time courtesy of Peter Kyomuhendo’s assist.
St Lawrence University returned for the second half energized.
They made amends with the equalizer via Lawrence Mugerwa’s well struck penalty three minutes after the hour mark.
With 20 minutes left on the clock, Arafat Osuman Kembo put the home side ahead following Ronnie Ziraba’s donkey work.
The lead was well protected until the end to earn the crucial maximum points where take them to top of group B on 10 points.
On the same day, YMCA overcame visiting Kabale University 3-0.
UCU, a former winner of this championship remains on 8 points, same as YMCA to be ejected alongside Kabale University (7 points).

On the same day, Makerere University and Victoria University face off at Hamz Stadium (Nakivubo war memorial grounds) in the heart of Kampala city.
