Kampala Rockets secured a hard-fought 65-63 victory against the KCCA Panthers in a National Basketball League match at YMCA Court in Wandegeya on Wednesday.
Edward Mugabo capped off the first period with a layup, leaving the Kampala Rockets trailing by three points at 17-14.
In the second quarter, Mugabo’s long-range shot narrowed the Rockets’ deficit to just two points, bringing the score to 35-33 as they headed into halftime.
After the break, the Panthers increased their intensity, building a nine-point lead at the end of the third quarter, with the score standing at 50-41.
In the final period, the Panthers fought hard to maintain their advantage, leading to a tense finish.
Edward Mugabo led the Kampala Rockets with 18 points, while Juf Mpiya added 16 points and Brian Opio contributed 15 points.
Only Davis Assimwe reached double digits for the Panthers with 22 points, while Ivan Lumanyika grabbed 12 rebounds, but their efforts were not enough to secure a win.
