Bank of Uganda’s Agnes Apio defied the drizzling heavens to recorded her 3rd consecutive victory during the 4th Corporate Woodball Circuit played over the weekend at the Makerere University Business school (MUBS) fairways in Nakawa.
“Prior the start, i knew my victory today (on the circuit day) would make a difference”, Apio told Kawowo Sports after playing 12 gates.
She scored 63 strokes, beating the closet challenger, Sarah Mpiima by a single stroke.
Meanwhile,compatriot, Godwin Ssenyondo over came a hard battling Zac Mulawa to win the men’s top accolades on count back.
Both scored 60 strokes but Ssenyondo had scored 3 strokes compared to Mulawa’s 4 on gate three.
Ssenyondo scored 7 , 3, 5, 6, 5,4, 6, 5, 5, 5 and 5 to topple all the men.
The half day championship drew participants from MUBS, Ndejje University, UCU, Bank of Uganda, St. Joseph’s Technical Institute Kisubi and Proway Sports Academy.
The next corporate event will be on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at UCU – Mukono.
In the meantime, the National Woodball Team will continue to prepare for the 6th World Cup Woodball Championship slated for September 5 – 11, 2014 at Luneng Sanya Bay Center, China.
The Team is expected to leave on September 3, 2014 if they can raise US$39,415 to facilitate the team.
