Gor Mahia FC attacking midfielder Arthur Semazzi insists the KPL champions will give all they can to progress to the last eight of the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2014 despite losing their two opening games.
Gor Mahia lost to Ugandan champions KCC FC 1-2 and Burundi’s Atletico 1-0 but still have a chance to advance if they beat APR FC and Djibouti’s Telecom FC in their two remaining fixtures.
They face Rwanda’s APR FC in a game they must win if they are to keep their slim chances of reaching the last eight alive and Semazzi says they are well aware of what is at stake.
“We are determined than never before and we are well aware of what that game means to our chances,” Semazzi told Kawowo Sports.
“We understand a good result will put us back into the group mathematics and we shall go for it,” Semazzi who has so far featured in both losses as a substitute stressed.
Asked his views on the team performance so far, the ex-Police FC, SC Villa and Lweza FC player said its difficult to point out as guys have given their all but ended up on the losing side.
“The boys have put their bodies on the line and the togetherness in camp is unrivaled but good results have just eluded us. To me, it’s down to luck that we are in such a situation,” he argued.
Gor Mahia are bottom of group B with zero points from two games but can still progress to the last eight if they collect maximum points from their two remaining fixtures with a decent goal margins.
