Former Uganda Cranes international Richard Malinga will not join Butambala Ssaza as earlier reported.
This follows a disagreement between the Butambala officials and the coach who has just won the national boys’ football schools’ championship with Buddo Secondary school.
Kawowo Sports has established that Malinga demanded to know the remuneration for the job he was to undertake, a feat that Butambala officials declined to reveal.
Right from the settlement fees, salary, allowances to bonuses, nothing was being revealed to the former Entebbe Health, KCCA and Uganda Cranes roving right back.
Also, sources that preferred anonymity hinted on the recruitment process of players by the top management behind the coach’s back, something that did not please the tactician.
For the past three seasons, Malinga has been handling Mawokota Ssaza when he preached the free-flowing philosophy of football, playing in the semi-finals during the 2021 and 2023 editions.

With Malinga declining to take the Butambala job, management now has to look around and name the suitable person deemed to take that job.
A number of Masaza teams have already confirmed their respective head coaches, alongside the entire technical docket.
Buddu won the championship last year, defeating Kyaggwe 1-0 in the grand finale played at the gigantic Mandela National Stadium – Namboole, graced by His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
The new season is ear-marked to kick off in June 2025.
Players who have played for the Uganda Cranes (senior national team), Uganda Kobs (U-23), Uganda Hippos (U-20), Uganda Premier League and the FUFA Big League are not allowed to take part in the Buganda Masaza Cup tournament.
The tournament has created great opportunities for sports talents that have been scouted to play for established local and international clubs like, Farouk Miya from Mawokota, Frank Ssebufu from Buddu, Yasser Mugerwa (Gomba), Baker Buyala (Bugerere), Steven Desse Mukwala (Ssingo), among others.
In the same vein, the Masaza cup competition has nurtured referees, coaches, leaders, journalists and other stakeholders in the game.
