Management of Butambala Ssaza football team has confirmed the appointment of Hassan “Kasese” Mubiru as their head coach.
This comes weeks after Richard Malinga turned down the opportunity to coach this team following unconcluded talks with the team manager.
Mubiru holds a CAF “C” coaching Diploma, among other certifications.
The former talented center forward, Mubiru rose to prominence after his move from Kasese to Sports Club Villa in 2003.
To avoid being confused with the legendary Uganda Cranes Hassan “Figo” Mubiru, also at SC Villa during the same time, this Mubiru was christened as “Kasese”.
After his tenure at Sports Club Villa, he moved to Bunamwaya (now Vipers) for two seasons (2007-2009) before he crossed to coaching at Kibibi Secondary School in 2009.
He has since been attached to Edgars Youth Programme.

At Butambala Ssaza, Mubiru makes a return having handled the team in 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons.
He is expected to name his backroom staff that he will work with.
Butambala is seeking for their first ever title in the Masaza Cup.
They are pooled in Muganzirwazza group with last year’s losing finalists Kyaggwe, Ssingo, Kabula, Kkooki and Mawogola.
The 2025 Buganda Masaza tournament kicks off on 21st June 2025 with a contest between Buddu and Gomba at the Kitovu Arena in Masaka city.
