Ahead of the highly anticipated Zone V Nations qualifiers, Rwanda national team coach Moise Mutokambali has categorically stated that his side only fears Egypt.

The championship kicks off on Monday September 22 at the MTN Arena Lugogo and is expected to attract countries Egypt, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan and hosts Uganda but Mutokambali whose charges lost last year’s championship to the Egyptians believes they will still be his biggest threat.

“Our main concern and worry is Egypt which is likely to bring the squad they used in the World Championship. They are very experienced and they will be a hindrance in our campaign to win the title,” Mutokambali told The New Times of Rwanda.

“We need to be very cautious and ensure that we win all our matches ahead of Egypt’s fixture which will try to prepare and put in all our efforts for a good result,” added Mutokambali.

Mutokambali is confident the squad at his disposal which include among others City Oilers and Airtel National Basketball League Most Valuable Player Kami Kabange is strong enough to put up gallant performances.

“We have a strong squad to stage an impressive performance in the upcoming Zone V tournament. We are primed for the title such that we can be able to qualify for the Afro-basket finals,” he boasted.

Besides Kabange, the Rwanda side also has foreign based players in Nicolas Gihana (Nantes, France), Bradley Cameron (South Bend College -USA) and Kenneth Gasana (Al Waklah-Morocco). Rwanda is expected to arrive in Kampala on Friday September 19.

Meanwhile, the Uganda national team for the tourney was named on Tuesday.
