It is the football off-season in Uganda, like in many other parts of the world.

As the players are in recovery mood, the respective club boards are energizing and reorganizing their houses with key technical, administrative and players’ reinforcements.

Meanwhile, the fans are also steadily recharging for the new season.

The Platinum Football Fans Association Uganda Limited (PFFA), a duly registered organization that brings together the different fans of all the Uganda Premier League clubs has organized the first ever football gala for all the clubs.

This gala will be played by all the 16 clubs that featured in the 2024-2025 season (including the three relegated ones) over two days at the Kampala Quality Stadium in Kyebando.

Addressing the media during the press launch at Amicus Hotel (Kireka – Namugongo road) on Monday, 7th July 2025, the chairperson Sultan Hakim Kivumbi lauded the different clubs for wholesomely embracing the idea.

Kivumbi also saluted the Uganda Premier League who were represented by the CEO Bernard Bainamani, FUFA and well as all the supportive partners in this cause.

“This is a dream come true. I thank the club chairpersons and executive committees, fans’ leaders, FUFA, Uganda Premier League and all our sponsors for embracing this idea. We shall play over two days with the first day involving preliminaries and the second day for semi-finals, classification and finals. I urge all the fans to turn up in big numbers and support their respective clubs”

Bainmani lauded the initiative for the fans, one that he tagged as a step in the desired right direction.

“This is a very welcome initiative and as the Uganda Premier League, we wholesomely support it” Bainamani remarked.

“We shall provide the technical expertise, marketing and any other support. This tournament we believe will minimize and eliminate hooliganism. It will also bridge the communication gap between fans and the organizers of the league. This is also a good platform for the fans leadership to organize capacity building workshops as the FAMACO course and prepare media visits through fans’ leaders to engage referees’ leadership about the ever changing laws of the game” Bainamani added.
