It is a dream realized every time a sports personality elevates from one level to another.

Football-wise, that gradual transition from a first time kick through the amateur ranks to a full professional takes a while with diligent effort, determination, commitment and enthusiasm.

Elvin Abaho, 15, is a young footballer who is comfortable as a holding midfielder; attached to The Lion Sports Academy.

Abaho is now in Spain for trials with SPF in the football mad Spanish city of Valencia.

He qualified from the East African trials as part of the 15 contingent players for SPF Trials in Valencia starting on Monday

While in Uganda, Abaho received the full support of the academy coaches, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ronald Alonso Nuwasiima and the parents.

To Nuwasiima, Abaho’s travel to Spain is envisaged as a break-through moment for the academy.

“I have suffered, sacrificed and committed a lot to football. When I see a player from my hard work flying to Europe in Spain for football, I see the dream is getting closer” Nuwasiima, a FAMACO One graduate remarked.

For starters Abaho was first spotted when The Lion Sports Academy traveled to Arusha, Tanzania for the East African Chipkizi Cup.

Even though the Western Uganda based academy was eliminated at the semifinal stage by an academy from Zimbabwe, Abaho was outstanding and caught the eye of the scouts.
