Sommet edged out Victoria Crocs 75-72 in a National Basketball League encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday.
Peter Cheng was instrumental in Sommet’s victory scoring 21 points and pulling down 10 rebounds in a double double.
Fataki Nyembo (20 points) and Kasereka Tembo (11 points) also contributed for Sommet in double digits.
On the other hand, Choul Nyout as well managed a double double in the Victoria Croc’s fight scoring 17 points and making 10 rebounds.
David Mayom (17 points) and Erik Komagum (12 points) as well contributed in double digits for the Victoria Crocs.
Both sides struggled beyond the arc as Victoria Crocs converted only four of the 17 attempts while Sommet made eight of the 31 attempts.
Sommet’s depth in squad was visible on the day as they harvested 33 points from the bench, 20 more than Victoria Crocs.
Nyembo’s layup concluded the opening period as Sommet took a 1-point (17-16) lead before the Victoria Crocs responded thus creating a 10-point (41-31) lead going into the break.
Coming from the locker rooms, Sommet doubled their efforts to get back in the driving seat at the end of the opening quarter.
With 30 seconds on the clock, Nyembo’s driving layup concluded the game as Sommet runaway with a 3-point victory.
