La Cadie Sports and Leisure Park in Kitende, Makandwa is available for schools and adults training in football and basketball. Other facilities as the kids’ water park, badminton, lawn tennis, volleyball and a swimming pool as coming up in the nearest future.
For over four decades, the Kitende zone in Wakiso district has etched itself among the sporting power confines of Uganda.
The historic Kajjansi Clays playground, Kitende Court playground and the gigantic St Mary’s Stadium -Kitende, among others are some of the facilities actively used by the people in the area.
Now the latest addition is the state-of-art La Cadie Sports and Leisure Park located at Kitende, Makandwa village, riding along the catch phrase “Excite your senses naturally”.
This facility which was officially opened to the general public on Sunday, 13th July 2025 has an astro-turf playground and a basketball court.
At present, there is a football astro-turf, all weather basketball court, fully furnished dressing rooms and well-lit floodlights to ensure smooth night action and usage.
There is a section for a couple of indoor games as Pool Table and Table Tennis.
There are bold future prospects of establishing a Kids’ water park with a semi-Olympic swimming pool, Badminton, Lawn Tennis and Volleyball courts.
The La Cadie Sports and Recreation Park offers top notch facilities for tournaments, social groups, leisure teams, football camps, leagues, individual, alumni events and corporate functions.
Sula Galiwango is the proprietor who envisioned a bold dream to develop such a vast recreational facility.
“The concept to develop such a facility was derived from challenges that many schools around our community face to have sports amenities for their children due to limited space.” Galiwango reasons.
This facility is therefore available for schools and adults training in football and basketball. This is one of a kind with other facilities as the kids’ water park, badminton, lawn tennis, volleyball and a swimming pool as coming up in the nearest future.
The charges to access the facility are pocket friendly to help schools in our communities and adults do exercises as well as aerobics.
The owner estimates at least Ug.Shs 1 billion so far spent and more is coming up.
Sula cites a number of challenges encountered thus far as strict supervision to have clean work executed, certifications from NEMA, Kajjansi Town Council and Wakiso district as well as the security agencies to enable the best work conducted.
There was a sports gala in football and basketball as the facility was officially opened.
