The Gulu 7s men’s defending champions, the Heathens, are officially out of the Main Cup.
The Heathens started off Day One with a routine win against the Lira Big Boys, but fell short against the Kampani Eagles 12-10 in round two of Day 1. This shocking defeat meant that the Heathens had to play the game of their lives when they met the KOBs in Round 3.
A Richard Abigaba try for the KOBs further sunk the Kyadondo boys, before Dennis Etwau levelled the scores in the first half. The only two tries of the game were both unconverted, ending the game at 05-05, ultimately knocking Heathens out of the Main Cup.
In the other groups, games went almost according to script, with the top two seeds in Groups A, C and D all proceeding to the Quarterfinals.
Although we may not have a new circuit winner in the 2025 National 7s series, we know for sure that we shall have a new Gulu 7s champion.
The Quarterfinals
- Walukuba Vs Rams
- Mongers Vs Eagles
- Rhinos Vs Pirates
- KOBs Vs Buffaloes
