  • Venue: Windhoek, Namibia
  • Dates: August 29th – 7th September

Janet Mbabazi will lead the Victoria Pearls in their quest for a third appearance at the T20 Global World Cup Qualifiers in Nepal.

The squad of 14 has only one debutant. All-rounder Jane Naomi Amongin has been given an opportunity with the senior side, having featured for the U-19 girls’ side twice in Botswana 2022 and Rwanda 2024.

Uganda and Zimbabwe came out on top in the qualifiers two years ago in Entebbe and represented Africa at the Global Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi.

Uganda is the second-highest-ranked team at the Qualifiers in 17th, but they will face stiff competition from the likes of Namibia, Rwanda, and Tanzania.

Uganda finished third at the Kwibuka Tournament, which was their last international outing, but they fell short against familiar opposition like Nigeria and Rwanda.

The team will rely on the experience of Consy Aweko, Kevin Awino, Immaculate Nakisuyi, Stephanie Nampiina, Rita Musamali, and Captain Janet Mbabazi to take them to the next level.

Namibia has always been a place of good memories for the Victoria Pearls since they qualified from Namibia for their first Global meet in 2017

The youth energy of Malissa Ariokot and Irene Mutoni will add steel to the squad as they aim to get out of the East African group.

The Victoria Pearls are in Group B alongside fellow East Africans Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda. The top two sides in the group with move on to the semifinals, but only the teams that meet in the final will earn the two slots to the Global Qualifiers.
