Ghana Black Stars will face England, Croatia and Panama in Group Credit: CAF Media

Ghana has become the fifth African country to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after finishing top of Group I with 23 points.

This follows their tense 1-0 win over Comoros at home, a game decided by Kudus second-half goal.

The Black Stars ended the campaign with eight wins, one defeat and as many losses, making up for the failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Nations Cup.

They join North African giants Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt, who already confirmed their tickets with matches to spare.

It will be the fifth time the Black Stars, 2010 quarterfinalists, play at the World Cup following their presence at the 2006, 2010, 2014 & 2022.

Meanwhile, Madagascar’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Mali means they miss out on qualifying for the playoffs as one of the four best-ranked second-placed finishers.

The fight for place at the Canada, Mexico and United States event continues on Monday with all eyes in Group D, where Cape Verde and Cameroon are in the contest to finish top and directly earn a ticket.
