Newly promoted Buhimba United Saints continued with their perfect start to the new season by registering their third win in as many games on Thursday.

The Saints emerged victorious in the Bunyoro derby, edging rivals Kitara FC in the game played at the Royals Park, Butema.

Edson Agondeze, a former player with Kitara, put his former paymasters to the sword, scoring the lone goal of the game.

The goal arrived in the 83rd minute when a lapse in defence saw Agondeze connect home from close range.

The game was highly anticipated in and around Hoima with the two rival teams facing off in the top flight for the first time.

Additionally, Buhimba’s starting XI featured six players that were formerly at Kitara namely; goalkeeper Jamil Kiyimba, Maxwell Owachigui, Ramathan Dudu, Eric Muber, Derrick Byabachwezi and Agondeze.

Kiyimba stood tall to deny his former paymasters on several occassions when Kitara went through on goal.

The decisive moment came in the 83rd minute when John Wesley Kisakye was fouled by Benjamin Nyakoojo and a free kick outside the area was awarded.

Owachigui took the free kick and his dropping delivery bounced in front of defenders Nyakoojo and Isa Lumu who were both indecisive thus allowing the ball to reach Agondeze who headed past goalkeeper James Alitho.

The result means Buhimba United Saints take the lead at the top of the table on nine points while Kitara remain in 12th place on one point.
