Off the cool breeze of Lake Victoria, Aero Beach Entebbe was buzzing with excitement as the Swans Sports Club hosted the highly anticipated annual beach rugby against cancer event.
Beyond showcasing the thrill of beach rugby, the event brought a strong health-focused message, providing free cancer screenings, diabetes checks, and blood pressure monitoring to all attendees, who wished.
The Swans Sports Club, dedicated to fighting cancer and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like diabetes and hypertension, has made this event a signature year celebration.
This year’s edition not only emphasized health awareness but also packed the day with a variety of sports activities and competitions for participants of all ages.
Among the highlights, PlayHouse256 energized the crowd with a wide array of games that were enjoyed by children and adults alike.
The competitions ran throughout the day, keeping the beach lively and the atmosphere celebratory.
Spectators cheered on the rugby matches, joined in games, and took part in interactive challenges that promoted teamwork, fitness, and community spirit.
This event was about more than rugby. It’s about fostering a healthy community, raising awareness on cancer and NCDs, and encouraging early detection. By combining sports, fun, and health screenings, we create a unique platform for education and engagement.

With support from Uganda Cancer Institute and Local health professionals who volunteered their time to offer on-the-spot screenings, ensuring that everyone could benefit from accessible health services without any extra cost.
Meanwhile, the sporting competitions and games provided a festive environment that kept attendees active and engaged.
The Swans Sports Club’s annual event is a shining example of how sport can be a force for social good.
By merging beach fun rugby, community competitions, and health advocacy, the Swans Sports Club continues to raise awareness, encourage healthy lifestyles, and foster unity.
As the sun set over Aero Beach, it was clear that the day had been a success—not just in rugby scores, but in promoting health, fun, and community engagement.
12 festival teams took part in the one-day event with Team Offseason captained by Joseph Aredo a national team player who also features for Kobs Rugby Football Club crowned champions after a fierce competition against Team Tequila shots.Â
Other participating teams included team Ebyononese, Balaam, Try Babies, Legacy-Holders, Global high school, Abakamanyi, Fukho, Swans festival and Los bandidos.
The event was proudly supported by the Uganda Cancer Institute, Engineering Solutions Ltd, Playhouse, Stanbic bank, Plus256 studios, Photobox 256, and Go pictures.
The guest of honor was Sir Ian Walker, the Managing Director of Engineering Solutions Limited.
Sir Walker handed over mementos in memory of Frank Muthusi (R.I.P) Group CEO of Fireworks Advertising who was a strong ambassador and advocate for cancer and Balaam Daniel Lubangakene (R.I.P) of Rams RFC who fought a good fight against cancer and was part of the Swans beach festival from the beginning.
