Uganda U-17 National team during a warm up game in Dubai

Uganda U17 head coach Brian Ssenyondo is happy but that the team is scoring but they need to improve on their defence to limit on the goals being conceded.

Speaking to the press after the 3-2 loss to Paraguay, Ssenyondo says they have a plan to work on the team’s shortcomings before the World Cup’s big stage.

“What we need to improve is defending and game management. By the time we play our first game in Qatar, everything will be in place,” the gaffer stated.

“The good thing is that we have scored first in all the three games which shows our strength and potential in the attacking areas,” he noted.

The Uganda Cup played three games in the Dubai Youth Challenge and made a draw before suffering back to back losses. Ssenyondo says they have gained a lot of experience that will be of great hope in the World Cup.

“I am thankful that we have had this camp. I want to thank FUFA for the initiative as it has offered a clear picture of what we are going to find in the World Cup.”

Uganda Cubs are in Group K alongside Canada, Chile and France.
