UTEP Women’s Basketball Team opened the 2025-26 season dominantly, defeating Prairie View A&M 84-60 at the Don Haskins Center.
The win was highlighted by Ugandan forward Mary Moses Amaniyo, who stepped off the bench and delivered a historic performance with 16 points and a program single-game record 22 rebounds.
The sophomore went 6-for-11 from the field and 4-for-11 from the stripe to accumulate a team high in the victory.
“Today was a good team effort, I loved the energy on the floor and on the bench,” head coach Keitha Adams said after the game. “Mary Moses [Amaniyo] had a great breakout game, and breaking the school record is pretty special,” she added.
Heaven Samayoa-Mathis added 14 points, four assists, four rebounds, two steals and two blocks in a complete effort. Freshman Brooklyn Terry chipped in 13 points while Sirviva Legions contributed 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Abby Priscilla, the other Ugandan at UTEP, was not in action. The wing hasn’t played for the Miners since joining last year due to injury.
The Miners will be back home for three more games, welcoming Nicholls State (November 8), WNMU (November 11), and UT Martin (November 22), before its first road test of the season at Kansas City (November 25).
