The Africa Cricket Association Girl’s U19 trophy commences on the 6th-9th December 2014 in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. Skipper Janet Mbabazi, who believes they will be up for the challenge, said;
The training has been hectic but good and all the girls have put in a lot of effort with trying to get fit and also some aerobics sessions every day, All the players know their roles when they walk on to play so it will be easy to lead them out,
The tournament is expected to attract six countries including hosts Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Mozambique and Botswana.Mbabazi added that:
We expect our biggest competition to come from Tanzania who always work hard and want to beat us. Botswana has also improved a lot too but we have got the players to match them in Saidat Kemigisha the opener and Damalie Busingye who just picked up the MVP trophy this year,
The all-rounder who features for Wanderers in the local league believes the success enjoyed at home with her club will translate into good results at the tournament.
“Playing with Wanderers for club has helped me a lot because I get to learn from the senior players and it has improved my game.”
Uganda open against Mozambique in the morning and later in the afternoon take on Rwanda in the 20-over format tournament.
