Overview:

Uganda has so far won four medals at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games (two golds, one silver and one bronze) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

2025 Islamic Solidarity Games (Table Tennis):

Tuesday, 12th November:

Mixed Doubles – Round of 16:

  • Uganda (Joseph Francis Sebatindira & Judith Parvin Nangonzi) Vs Batix Ylane & Lorenza Eden Koulaouinhi (Cameroon) – 10 am

Doubles – Round of 16:

  • Shemar Ronaldo Britton & Nigel Antony Bryan (Guyana) Vs Joseph Francis Sebatindira & Joshua Magaya (Uganda) – 12 pm

Women’s singles:

  • Jemimah Nakawala (Uganda) Vs Yousra Ashraf Abdelrazek (Egypt) – 5:30 pm

Venue: Boulevard SEF Arena 01B

The Table Tennis championship at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, continues at the Boulevard SEF Arena 01B.

There will be action in the mixed doubles, doubles and singles for all the players.

Uganda managed to qualify one player in the singles’ event: Jemimah Nakawala. She faces Egyptian Yousra Ashraf Abdelrazek at 5:30 PM.

Nakawala overcame Kazakhstan’s Saida Kudusova 4-0 at the Round of 16 stage, winning 11-3, 11-4, 11-4 and 11-2.

In the mixed doubles, Uganda’s pairing of Judith Parvin Nangonzi and Joseph Francis Sebatindira will face the duo of Ylane Batix and Lorenza Eden Koulauinhi at the Round of 16.

For the doubles, Guyana’s Shermar Ronaldo Britton and Nigel Anthony Bryan take on the pair of Sebatindira and Joshua Magaya.

Uganda’s head coach, Alvin Katumba, is positive going into Wednesday’s action.

“We managed to qualify a player to the quarter-finals (Jemimah Nakawala), which is a good achievement compared to the fierce competition. We are also prepared for the doubles and mixed doubles. This championship has given us plenty of lessons to reflect about,” Katumba stated.

In the singles, Magaya defeated Mohammadian Hossain 4-3 (10-12, 12-10, 7-11, 7-11, 12-10, 11-8 and 11-9) at the Round of 64 before falling at the Round of 32.

Sebatindira lost 4-1 to Azerbaijan’s Onur Guluzade (9-11, 11-7, 9-11, 3-11, 6-11) while Jeremiah Nakawala overcame Pakistan’s Fawad Hoor on Table One 4-2 (10-12, 11-8, 8-11, 11-7, 11-6).

Uganda has so far won four medals at these games (two golds, one silver and one bronze).

Swimmer Anna Gloria Muzito won two gold and silver medals, whilst boxer Alfred Ojok won a bronze medal in the light heavyweight category.

Uganda also fielded athletes in weightlifting, para-powerlifting, athletics and wrestling.
