Uganda Cranes take on Chad in an international friendly on Friday in Morocco in a game that Paul Put will most likely use to test his new guns.

The match is part of the preparations for the 2025 Africa Nations Cup that kicks off next month.

In the squad available at his disposal, Al-Hassan Baba, born to Ghanaian parents in Uganda and Melyvn Lorenzen could get chance to showcase their abilities to the Belgian and his staff.

Baba, playing for Steaua Bucharest in Romania has been touted as a midfield engine that the Cranes need and if he performs well, that will give Put more options in the engine room that has skipper Khalid Aucho, Kenneth Ssemakula, Ronald Ssekiganda and fans favourite Joel Sserunjogi (both not summoned) as well as Karim Watambala, Bobosi Byaruhanga and Allan Oyirowth.

For Lorenzen who made his debut in 2016 against Zimbabwe but then turned down chance to play for the nation on several occasions, it will be an opportunity to show his attacking skills in the absence of injured Rogers Mato.

Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru and Joseph Mpande who have been part of the squad for the last 2-3 summons have also not got enough playing time and this could be an opportunity to try them.

In the absence of Aziz Kayondo (concussion), Herbert Achai could get a taste of senior national team football but Put can also try Jordan Obita at left back where he predominantly plays for his club.

Besides, the core of the team led by Obita, Sibbick, Capradossi, Aucho, Okello and Jude Ssemugabi are all available with the matches against Chad and Morocco (on Tuesday) good tests for combination plays and readiness for Afcon.

Uganda is placed in the same Afcon 2025 group with Nigeria, Tanzania and Tunisia.
