Uganda U17 Boys National Football Team, the Cubs, continued with their brilliant start to the 2026 AFCON U17 Qualifiers, obliterating Sudan on Tuesday in Ethiopia.

In the CECAFA Zonal Qualifier game played at Dire Dawa Stadium, Uganda Cubs registered a 9-0 win, the biggest victory at the tournament so far.

It should be noted that the Cubs won their first game 4-0 on Saturday, defeating Burundi.

Today, the one-sided affair saw Uganda overcome Sudan without breaking a sweat, with goals flowing. It should be noted that Sudan lost their first game 6-0 to Tanzania.

Captain Owen Mukisa once again orchestrated the damage, scoring a brace like he did against Burundi to take his goal tally to four at the tournament.

Eze Kombi also bagged a brace while Thomas Ogema, John Brian Owino, Ismail Fahad, Babi Abdushakur and Arnold Kayemba added a goal each.

Victory takes Uganda to six points and qualifies for the semifinals, but will contend for the Group B leadership with Tanzania, whom they face on Friday.

It should be noted that the two teams that reach the final and the third-placed team qualify for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Uganda, Tanzania and Somalia qualified for this year’s AFCON in Morocco, with Uganda going all the way to progress to the World Cup, where they have performed extremely well, reaching the Round of 16, where they lost to Burkina Faso.
