The Para-powerlifting competition marked the end of the competitions at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games hosted in Riyadh by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Uganda’s lone representative, Dennis Mbaziira, competed in the heavyweight category and faced 10 other opponents at the Boulevard 01A, Riyadh Sports City Arena on Friday, 21st November 2025.

Weighing 89.20 kg, Mbaziira was successful with the first two lifts: 150 kg and 158 kg on the bench.

“I am very humbled to have competed at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games. I managed to lift my weights on two occasions, which was a big bonus to me. I rose to 162 kg but judges called for a no-lift. It remains work in progress and I will not rest when I return home,” Mbaziira stated moments after the competition.

Iranian Roohallah Rostami smiled home with the gold after easy lifts for the 225 kg, 230kg and 235 kg weights.

Silver went to Rasool Mohsin from Iraq (220 kg and 227 kg) whilst Uzbekistan’s Bekzod Jamilov took bronze (215kg and 219 kg).
