Usama Arafat scored what turned out to be the winner as Vipers edged Maroons to maintain perfect start to the season.
The striker got the goal in the 8th minute with a solo effort after Ronald Orombi failed to get to the ball in the centre circle.
Derrick Basoga had earlier turned Yunus Sentamu low into his own net in the first minute to give the champions an early lead.
Maroons returned better after the break with Raymond Walugembe scoring in the 57th minute to set up an evenly contested second half.
The champions however held on for all points as they move to nine points from as many available after three games.
Vipers are now 7th ahead of their clash with Express in Wednesday’s double header at Hamz stadium, Nakivubo.
With four games in hand, the Venoms are just six points behind leaders KCCA.
Maroons are 3rd from bottom with 5 points following a third defeat in six matches and host Lugazi in their next game on Tuesday.
