Tunisia veteran forward Youssef Msakni has had his name etched in the history books, especially in North Africa, for his illustrious career.
The 35-year-old is a legend of the game in Tunisia, where he recently went back to continue with his football career. Msakni a few days ago rejoined ES Tunis where he played between 2008- 2013.
Whereas the player has been on the sidelines due to a long-term injury, with AFCON 2025 around the corner, the forward, if considered and selected, will be in line to set a new record at the tournament.
With 104 senior national team caps under his belt, Msakni can become the player with the most AFCON appearances (in terms of editions and games played).
At the moment, Msakni has been to eight tournament editions, a record he shares with Rigobert Song (Cameroon), Ahmed Hassan (Egypt) and Andre Ayew (Ghana).
The striker made his debut at AFCON at the age of 19 in 2010 against Zambia. He has gone on to play at the 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023 editions.
Across those eight tournaments, he has featured in 29 games, eight behind Andre Ayew who has the most number of games at the final tournament.
At the 2025 AFCON, Tunisia is in Group C that has Uganda, Nigeria and Tanzania.
