The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that it will cater for 28 players for each of the teams that will feature at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Kawowo Sports can reliably confirm that in a meeting for team managers on Tuesday via Zoom, a decision has been taken in regards to the final squads.

Initially, each participating team was allowed to submit a list of up to 28 players for the final squad. However, CAF would only cater for 23 players in terms of travel, accommodation, and other competition-related logistics.

The remaining five optional slots would be utilized at the discretion of the National teams, but the full cost of those additional players will be taken care of by the concerned Federations (Member Associations).

However, CAF will now cater for all the 28 players per team and the final squads must be submitted ten days before the start of the tournament.

It should be noted that AFCON 2025 will be held in Morocco from 21st December 2025 to 18th January 2026.
