  • Uganda 65-38 Namibia

She Cranes secured a well-deserved 65-38 victory against Namibia in the Celtic Cup at Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland, on Wednesday.

The She Cranes opened a two-goal (13-11) lead at the end of the opening period as Uganda struggled to find their right footing and rhythm.

In the second period, Uganda extended their lead to 10 goals (31-21) as they increased the game’s momentum, giving Namibia a tough challenge.

Coming from the halftime break, She Cranes came back stronger and the fight widened the lead to 18 goals (48-30) at the end of the third period.

It was a one-way traffic in the final quarter as Uganda left the court with a 27-goal victory on the day.

Despite the victory, She Cranes head coach Rashid Mubiru believes that they need to play stronger against Ireland in their second game.

“The cold weather has affected us but we shall get used. Going forward, we need to play stronger if we are to beat Ireland,” he said.

“We shall make some changes in the team. The players did well but we shall keep trying out different things to see that we meet the tactical demands,” he added.
