Kitara edged Police 2-1 in a Uganda Premier League encounter at Police Arena, Kira on Thursday evening.
Kitara need a late goal from Isaac Atuhairwe to eventually bag maximum points on the day.
Patrick Kaddu gave the visitors the lead in the 10th minute after perfectly slotting the ball in the back of the net from the 12-yard mark.
The Royals nearly doubled their lead in the 43rd minute through Jimmy Kalema but the forward was denied by Police’s goalkeeper Edward Kasibante.
Lawrence Tezikya drew matters level with a beautiful header off Daniel Jakony’s freekick in the 63rd minute.
Late in added time, Amutuhirwe guided the ball in the back of the net as Kitara ran away with a sweet victory.
The victory takes Kitara to the fourth position with 13 points in seven games while Police remain third with 14 points in eight games.
