With diligence, the main contractors of the Hoima City Stadium; M/S Summa completed the whole work in a record 13 months. Main Stadium (20k seater),Mini Arena (2k seater),Semi Olympic Swimming Pool (25m x 12.5m),Stadium and Outdoor Pitch ( 68m x 106m), Stadium and Outdoor running track,2 basketball and 2 volleyball courts.

The newly opened 22,000-seater Hoima City Stadium was officially opened by the president of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, on Wednesday, 24th December 2025.

The construction commenced in 2024 and was due to be completed in 18 months.

With diligence, the main contractors M/S Summa completed the whole work in a record 13 months.

The official opening football game between Kitara and Kampala Capital City Council (KCCA) with the former winning 1-0.

Isaac Amutuhaire scored the all-important goal in the 24th minute, making history as the first player to score in the facility that is ear-marked to host AFCON 2027, among other facilities.

The official opening followed an earlier visit and inspection by the CDF General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

The total construction cost is US $129 million (About Uganda Shs 500 Billion).

April 2019

  • Dr James Rujumba (RIP) Family hands over 10 acres of land to FUFA to build a legacy project (stadium) in Hoima

October (26-27) 2020

  • The Federation of Uganda Football Associations signs a memorandum of understanding with the family of the late Dr James Rujumba (East Africa’s first veterinary doctor), who offered 10 acres of land to the Federation to build a legacy project.

May 2024:

  • The land grew to 42 acres in total after FUFA handed over 20 acres, and the government acquired the rest.

7 June 2024

  • A contract between the government and Turkish firm M/S Summa to begin construction was signed at State House, Nakasero, under the watchful eyes of the First Lady and Minister for Education and Sports.

September 1 2024

  • Construction of the stadium started

December 2025

  • Stadium construction complete, handed over to the National Council of Sports (NCS), and officially commissioned by H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Wednesday, 24th December 2025.
