Uganda Cranes burly forward Karl Anthony Uchechukwu Mubiru Ikpeazu scored his first goal at the on-going 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, against Tanzania during the 1-all draw at the Stade Al Medina in Rabat city.

Uchechukwu scored a wonder diving header off an inviting cross from the right flank by Denis Omedi in the 80th minute.

He has since described the goal as a “very special one” in his career.

“I am happy to come scored against Tanzania” the St Johnstone forward in the Scottish league remarked.

“This goal (against Tanzania) is a very special one in my career and life” he added.

Uganda fell 0-1 to Saimon Msuva’s penalty on the stroke of the hour mark.

Uganda kept the belief and equalizer through Uchechukwu’s brilliantly header for his second goal in Uganda Cranes’ colours.

Allan Okello blasted over a penalty in the closing moments of the game after teenager James Bogere was whistled down in the forbidden area.

The Uganda Cranes have regrouped for the last group C contest against Nigeria in Fez city this coming Tuesday.

Uchechukwu believes the game against Nigeria will call for collective display to earn the much needed maximum points.

“We are facing Nigeria next. We need to work so hard as a team to get the crucial results” Uchechukwu remarked.

Uganda Cranes lost 1-3 to Tunisia in their opener at the Olympic Stadium and now has a point from two matches.

Nigeria leads Group C with the maximum six points and have already qualified to the knock out round after their 3-2 win over Tunisia.

Tunisia faces Tanzania in the last group duel.
