Ambrose Kigozi was on target as Entebbe UPPC edged UPDF 1-0 in a Uganda Premier League encounter at Bombo Military Grounds on Wednesday.

It was an end-to-end encounter that left the fans wishing for more as both sides created several chances even though only one was converted.

Samuel Ssekamatte failed to give the hosts the lead in the opening minute after squandering a clear cut chance infront of an empty net.

In the third minute, UPPC responded through Jonathan Gift whose effort forced goalkeeper Shamulan Kamya into a great save as he finger tipped the effort out for a corner kick.

Fifteen minutes later, Goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa was quick to leave his lines thus emphatically dealing with Ssekamatte’s effort from the goal area.

At the stroke of the opening stanza, Kigozi placed the visitors in the driving seat after placing the ball into the back of the net.

Emmanuel Ocen and Ssekamatte combined to beat UPPC’s backline but the later failed to complete the well orchestrated attack five minutes into the second stanza.

From this point, the Army side hardly got a clear side on goal as UPPC’s backline stood firm and tall.

The victory takes the Printers to the fifth position with 26 points while UPDF lie 12th with only 11 points after playing 13 league games.
