The opening round of the 2026 Kabalaza Golf Open was successfully held under sunny conditions at Entebbe club on Thursday, 5th February.
The professionals and top gross players in the country were engaged in the grueling 18 holes action.
Silver Opio recorded three-under 68 gross on the lake side course to topple the rest of the field.

Opio commenced the morning drive off with a bogie on the par-5 hole one. He swiftly made amends with a birdie on the par-3 hole 2 before successive pars on holes 3 and 4.
The swift spoken professional then had consecutive birdies on holes 5 and 6 before climaxing the front section with three par scores on 7,8 and 9.
He crossed to the final 9 holes with huge expectations; firing two par scores on 10 and 11, a bogie on 12, three consecutive birdies on 13, 14 and 15.
He slowed down on 16 and 17 with bogies and finished the round business with a birdie on the par-5 hole 18.
“It was a good round of golf. I look forward an improved session on day two” Opio revealed.

Opio is a shot better than second placed Phillip Kasozi and two ahead of Rodell Tadeo Gaita.
Five professionals fired a course level score (71) to amplify the quest and stiff competition coming to the closing 18 holes on Friday.
The Aviator and NuMax Cinemas sponsored Herman Deco Mutebi, Abbey Bagalana, Owen Samuel Kato, former multiple Uganda Amateur open winner Ronald Otile and Emma Ogwang are jointly tied in fourth place.


The only lady in action among the professionals Irene Nakalembe is 9th on the leaderboard with 1-over 72 whilst Grace Kasango is 2-over-73.
Vincent Byamukama and Canary Kabise are tied in 11th with 3-over-74 while James Koto, Abraham Ainamani and Ashraf Bagalana are joint 13th with 75 gross marks apiece.







The round also involved top gross amateurs in the men and ladies section.
