Men’s Elite League: Day 3 Results
- Morning: Karuma Rapids 87/2 beat Bujjagali Rafters 200/7 by 8 wickets on DLS
- Afternoon: Itanda Kayakers 156/6 beat Karuma Rapids 155/8 by 4 wickets
Karuma Rapids snatched a win from the jaws of defeat in the Men’s Elite League morning encounter with Bujjagali Rafters.
The Rafters had piled on a mammoth 200/7 in their 20 overs and looked good for the win until the heavens opened just after the first innings.
The DLS math gave the Karuma Rapids a modest chase of 87 from 36 balls and the Rapids immediately got stuck into it.
Cosmas Kyewuta plundered 31 off 8 balls, including four monster maximums, to get over the line with six balls to spare. He took 29 off the one over that was bowled by Simon Oketcho and won the game for the Rapids on a wicket that has nothing in it for bowlers.
In the afternoon, the Karuma Rapids could not contain the Itanda Kayakers, who ran over them by four wickets.
The Rapids batted first with Charles Mushemeza (46) carrying on with his good form and he got support from Paul Mulongo (37) and Munir Ismail (36) to notch 155/8 in their 20 overs.
In the run chase, Karuma Rapids made some early inroads that left the Itanda Kayakers railing at 27/3, but a resilient knock from Stephen Wabwose (46) kept them in the run chase and he got able partners in Captain Christopher Kidega (35) and Pius Oloka (25) to bring up a second win for Kayakers.
The teams will be fighting for a top 2 finish on Day 4 to ensure they make the final on Saturday afternoon. All the teams are tied on the same number of points after Day 3.
