Kitara will unveil seasoned forward Muhammad Shaban after he reportedly signed a two-year contract with the club.
The former Onduparaka, Vipers and KCCA striker returns to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League after one and half seasons since he left as the top scorer for the 2023/24 season.
His signing is a statement of intent from Kitara who are just three points behind champions and table leaders Vipers with a game in hand.
A win against URA who they face later on Thursday at Royal Park, Butema will take them to the top of the table courtesy of a superior H2H following a boardroom decision that awarded them victory over Vipers.
Kitara has scored 25 goals so far which is a low return in comparison to Vipers’ 35 but have one of the meanest defences in the league having let in just eleven goals.
“The intention is to increase our goal scoring sources and Shaban is proven in that area,” a member of the Kitara technical staff told Kawowo Sports.
Shaban is a different version from Patrick Kaddu who has scored 7 goals so far and the two can as well compliment each other.
He is expected to debut in the Stanbic Uganda Cup against Entebbe UPPC next week and if he lives up to the expectation, expect Kitara to push Vipers all the way.
