Bright Anukani celebrates a goal against Bright Stars

At the end of last season, KCCA wished to part ways with Bright Anukani despite the player remaining with two years on his contract.

The exciting midfielder re-joined the Kasasiro on a three-year contract as a free agent from Vipers on September 1, 2025.

However, without compensation, Anukani who has also featured for Proline and KCCA refused to leave despite having interest from many clubs including SC Villa and Entebbe UPPC.

Both parties failed to reach agreement on compensation and the player refused to leave Lugogo.

He was not listed on the KCCA squad for the first round of the 2025/26 season but the player stayed calm and kept training with the club, mainly the academy side (often played against the senior team in trial matches) and possibly getting his salary.

KCCA finally bowed and listed him for the second round of the season and he made his first appearance against Mbarara City in the Stanbic Uganda Cup on Sunday February 22, 2026 to the surprise of many including some Lugogo faithful who thought he was no longer their player.

He is expected to play a role in the club’s quest for silverware as the season progresses but his determination to fight what contractually belongs to him depicts a man of his word.

Anukani gives the co-coaching duo of Jackson Magera and Brian Ssenyondo an option in the number 10 role where they seem to lack.
