The Thunderbirds have made a strong case for themselves as title contenders, beating holders the Black Pearls and a strong Avengers side.
This weekend, the Thunderbirds have a golden opportunity to extend their stay at the top when they host the Panthers at Kyadondo.
Despite a poor start to the season, losing to the Nile Rapids in Jinja, the Kyadondo side has since recovered and picked up wins that will go a long way in their title ambitions.
The Panthers are a project in progress and are almost there, but are not yet at the level to challenge for trophies in the 15s game.
Players like Amina Nalujja, Latifah Tiko and the experienced Brenda Kayiyi are the current fulcrum of the revived Panthers, but against a strong unit like Thunderbirds, it shall take more than individuals to pull an upset.
Dispatching the Black Pearls was not enough for the Thunderbirds; they did themselves a favour and earned a spirited win against the Avengers.
Meanwhile, the Pearls were subjected to the same fate as the Kyadondo ladies when they visited Jinja. A bonus point win at home would be a statement to their rivals since the Pearls have a rest weekend while the Avengers travel away to Mbale.
