Before the Enterprise Cup break, the Victoria Sharks put up a shambolic performance against the Heathens, and now they face another tough opponent in the Black Pirates.

That 30-05 loss to the Heathens was very uncharacteristic of the Sharks, who had found some chemistry this season. Up until that fixture, the Sharks were unbeaten in the league, registering three wins and two draws in the first 5 games of the season.

Holding the KOBs to a draw at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds was a sign that the Sharks were intent on protecting home ground, and that is the same attitude they should carry into the Pirates encounter.

The Pirates, on the other hand, have been flying this season, securing five wins out of six games so far. Their only loss of the season came in Game Week 4 against the Heathens at Kyadondo in a closely contested clash.

Earlier in the season, the Pirates collected a win over the Buffaloes at Kyadondo, and shall have to forget that Heathens hiccup and resume winning at the Swamp this Saturday against Sharks.

While the Sharks took a break, the Pirates were recording a monumental win against KCB Rugby in the Enterprise Cup. Given the upcoming Easter Holiday, the Pirates wouldn’t mind going all out against a well-rested Sharks this Saturday.

The Sharks should be wary of this fact and present the best squad possible to keep their Top 8 playoffs dreams alive for the second season running.

Coach Kevin Makmot faces another uphill task, but luckily for him, this is the last top-three side he comes up against, with Buffaloes, Impis and Mongers waiting just around the corner.
