CAF President Patrice Motsepe will visit Senegal for peace talks after the decision to strip Senegal of the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) title.

Senegal finds itself in a state of pain after the CAF announced that Morocco is the new football champion, following a boardroom decision.

The decision has not been widely welcomed by the biggest part of the continent since Senegal lodged a formal appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

While the football governing body has tried to explain the decision, Motsepe’s visit to Senegal will be a key move to try and calm the dust.

According to The Goal, Motsepe is expected to arrive in Dakar later on in the day for an official visit for an open dialogue.

The meeting will have CAF officials with Senegalese Football Federation officials as well as government officials.

Senegal has opened its doors to the CAF president, which creates a positive foundation for the dialogue.

“President Motsepe has decided to come to Senegal. He will be welcome. We welcome all Africans here in Senegal,” the president of the Senegalese Football Federation, Abdoulaye Fall said.

“President Motsepe has decided to come to Senegal. He will be welcomed. We are all Africans and this is his country too.”
