Uganda U17 Boys National Team, the Cubs, learned on Wednesday the teams they will be facing at this year’s U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

The draw was conducted in Cairo, Egypt and Uganda was placed in Group B alongside the Ivory Coast, Cameroon and DR Congo.

The team, under the guidance of coach Laryea Kingston, will be seeking to seal a place at the World Cup just like Brian Ssenyondo’s troops did last year.

For the past three weeks, the Cubs have been in camp, preparing for the tournament slated to take place in Morocco from 13th May to 2nd June.

It should be noted that the quarterfinals earn direct World Cup slots, while two other teams go through a playoff to complete the quota of ten that Africa has.

Last year, Uganda edged The Gambia in the playoff to qualify for the first-ever FIFA World Cup tournament.

Group A has hosts and reigning Champions Morocco alongside Tunisia, Egypt and Ethiopia.

Mali, Angola, Tanzania and Mozambique are in Group C, while Senegal, South Africa, Algeria and Ghana are pitted in Group D.
