  • SC Villa vs KCCA – Fufa stadium, Kadiba 8pm

SC Villa host KCCA at Fufa stadium Kadiba on Saturday in a game that could shape either’s title ambitions this season.

The two sides are separated by four points with KCCA in 3rd place with 45 points and below a position below with 41 after match round 21.

Both trail leaders Vipers and second placed Kitara coming into the clash and only three points will keep title ambitions for each alive.

The hosts lure refereeing decisions in games against Express and Police that have literally kept them further behind but have no excuses against Kasasiro.

For KCCA, bowing out of the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarter final stage leaves them with no option but beat Villa, stay closer to the top and hope those above them crumble if they are to avoid extending their trophy drought to seven years.

Besides that, hiccup in the cup, KCCA are in good form in the league with five wins on the bounce and their record against Villa gives them a favourite tag.

Brian Ssenyondo and Jackson Magera’s men will hope to continue with that run and in that process end Villa’s unbeaten run at Kadiba.

Villa will hope to put their abysmal record against KCCA that reads two wins in 26 matches to bed and their head coach Zeljko Kovacevic has decided to concentrate on the present.

“I don’t think the past matches matter,” he said when reminded of the history. “Just this season, we have played three times, won one, lost one and drawn one against KCCA,” he added.

“For me, all we need is to do better on Saturday and that is all that matters for now.”

On preps for the game, Kovacevic hinted at special program paying attention to every detail as KCCA is a side with good individual players.

“For this game, we have prepared in some special way because it is a Kampala derby. It is very important game for us because we need to win and stay in contention for the league.

“We know KCCA has very good individual players and we need to analyze everything and we have tried to prepare for every detail.”

In the reverse fixture, Umar Lutalo scored a last-minute free kick to hand Kovacevic and Villa defeat on day one but instead, the Serbian has opted to dwell on the positives from that game.

“We lost in the last minute from a free kick but we played a good game and missed some good 5-6 chances and for that reason, we need to improve and I see improvement in every game.”

Villa will have forwards Charles Lwanga and Frank Ssebuufu back after they missed the Uganda Cup quarter final game away to Happy Boyz but are sweating over the fitness of midfield enforcer Misi Diego Ssemugera.

From KCCA, no fresh injury has been reported with Derrick Nsibambi, Gabriel Joao and Mubeezi the only expected absentees.
