Sports journalists in Eastern Uganda have voted Mbale Tigers table tennis club for the Eastern Uganda Sports Press Association (ESPA) Monthly sports Award for the month of February.
The monthly assembly was held at Wash and Wills Hotel in Mbale town.
The journalists under their body, Eastern Sports Press Association (ESPA) nominated Mbale Tigers Table tennis club and Jinja based Bul FC’s striker Milton Kalisa for sports personality/ club of the month.
The journalists had also nominated Stephen Kiprotich who came second in the Tokyo Marathon. Kiprotich had however been recognized by the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA), the supreme body under which ESPA falls.
Mbale Tigers Table tennis club was rewarded for their great performances in the national trials for the All Africa Games that are slated for August in Congo Brazzaville.
Tigers boast of the top ranked players in Uganda. These include Chilbe Gilton, Ivan Wamuusi for the boys and Aminah Namaganda and Florence Seera in the girls’ category.
The Tigers garnered 235 points while Milton Kalisa of Bul FC got 185 points.
Finally, Samuel Odongo light Walter boxer who won the ESPA monthly sports personality award for the month of January 2015 was crowned at the same ESPA Assembly held Thursday march 5th at wash and wills Hotel, Odongo received Golden Medal and the Trophy sponsored by Biva organic, and Jude Mutetete.
This Awarding ceremony was presided over by the Chief Guest Mosses Bwayo CRO Manager.
