2014 Pool Association of Uganda league one champions, Ntinda Pool Club, have been found guilty of Match fixing on the last match day and stripped of the title.

An official statement released by Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) accuses Ntinda pool club of match fixing evidenced by phone texts:

They have effective immediately been stripped off the 2014 title, stripped off all points earned in the season, fined 9 points at the beginning of the 2015 and ordered to return the prizes including cash, trophy and medals. Boat has been warned to desist from lying to the Administrators of the Association.

Pool Association of Uganda decided the fate after Masindi Pool Club reported the case with evidence of a telephone message which has guided the association to come out with a ruling that didn’t favor Ntinda Pool club.

PAU has  however warned Ntinda pool club about the habit and in case the club is involved in match fixing, they’ll be banned from the sport for good.

Ntinda had been promoted to the topflight league and now it will not be playing in the top league until next year and that is if, they will qualify from the second division.

The pool association is currently drawing league fixtures for this year, but before they are out Ntinda pool club is free to appeal to the committee with evidence so that the verdict can be turned in their favor.

It is the first time  for such a scandal to happen in PAU.

The association’s President Farouk Wamala Kisuze said he is in position to fight such for the goodness of the game.

Denis Musanje, Patron of the accused Ntinda club is seeking a court injunction to the league league kick off.

We need justice and fairness. We shall appeal this ruling to a higher authority (National Council of Sports) and see court injunction if possible

A bitter Musanje told Kawowo Sports.

Detailed Verdict:

Based on the testimony heard from Red Shooters Pool Club, Ntinda Pool Club called Red Shooters and asked for money in order to beat Boat in a phone call confirmed, as per the call detail record from the telecom operators, to have originated from Ntinda Pool Club on the 23rd of November 2014 at 12.11hrs and lasted for an entire 2 minutes and 22 seconds. Ntinda thereafter sent an SMS to Red Shooters at 15:11hrs on the same day just before the match between Ntinda Pool Club and Boat Pool Club. Ntinda Pool Club’s SMS emphasized that it was up to Red Shooters Pool Club to do something yet Red Shooters had already exhausted their league matches the previous day. At that time, Red Shooters had no way of changing anyone’s results. Ntinda Pool Club has failed to convince the committee that, as claimed in their testimony, they (Ntinda) were worried that the PAU League One Table as at 23rd November 2014 was false because:
• First of all, Ntinda Pool Club’s SMS bears no indication whatsoever that they referred to the League One table standings or their correctness, and
• They never expressed similar worries either directly to PAU or any other Club leave alone Boat with whom they were playing that day.

As punishment for their conduct, Ntinda Pool Club is effective immediately:
1. Stripped off the 2014 PAU Pool League One title meaning that they will immediately:
a. Lose/Return the money earned as champions. PAU will simply block their cheque because it hasn’t yet been cashed
b. Lose/Return the trophy to PAU. This will be handed to the first runner up who will now assume the 2014 League One title
c. Lose/Return the medals to PAU. These will also go to the 1st runner up who is now the 2014 League One titleholder.
2. Stripped off all points accumulated in the 2014 PAU Pool League One. They will therefore be the worst performing club in the 2014 PAU Pool League One season. The 2014 PAU Pool League One final table standings shall be revised by the PAU Competitions Committee and they will have zero (0) points.
3. Given a fine of 9 points at the start of the 2015 PAU Pool League One season. They will have negative nine (-9) points at the start of the season

Ntinda Pool Club’s failure to account for the meaning of the message they sent to Red Shooters, which said and I quote “Boat beat Icon yday, so they need todayz game, so its up to u.”
