Ghana’s Black Sharks were by far the better side against the Sand Cranes in the first leg of the Africa Beach Soccer qualifiers at Sports Beach on Sunday.

Uganda went down 6-9 as they struggled to adapt to the home sand while Ghana who had jetted into the country two hours to the tie were comfortable by far.

“They lack experience,” said Ghanaian coach Theophilus Armah. “Even us, we were poor, but since last year we have played so many tournaments.”

“We are coming from South Africa, we were at the Copa Nigeria; we had a tournament in Ivory Coast too. That has made us improve greatly, the team (Uganda) is good, but lack a few technicalities here and there,” he added.

Uganda needs a victory of a margin of more than 4 goals to be assured of a slot in next month’s CAF beach soccer championships that will be held in Seychelles.

Ghana’s skipper Michael Sema confessed that Uganda will be lucky to advance ahead of the hosts in seven days.

“They (Uganda) will not even score three, we already feel bad about the fact that they scored six today,” Sema said.

“At home it’s going to be a different story; we won’t give them a chance to enjoy themselves like we did today.”

Uganda’s six goals on the day came off the feet of Baker Lukooya (2), Brian Nkuubi, team captain Derrick Tekwo and a Roch Somoka brilliant header.
