Uganda U17 Men’s National Team will continue their final bend of preparations with yet another practice game on Tuesday.
After nearly two months of preparations in Uganda, the Cubs shifted base over the weekend and are currently in Casablanca, Morocco.
The team will have their first friendly game against Mozambique on Tuesday at the Annexe Terrain Mohammed V (4:00 p.m. EAT).
Coach Laryea Kingston believes this final week of preparations will be important in fine-tuning the team.
“We arrived safely in Morocco, and the players are in good condition. As we edge closer to the tournament, such games will give us a true picture of what we should expect. I believe Mozambique is a good team and they will give us a good test,” he said.
Kingston moved with a squad of 27 players from which the final team of 23 will be selected.
After playing against Mozambique, the Uganda Cubs will have their final friendly game against Mali on Saturday.
Uganda is in Group B alongside the Ivory Coast, Cameroon and DR Congo. On the other hand, Mozambique is in Group C, which includes Mali, Tanzania and Angola.
It should be noted that the top two progress to the quarterfinals and consequently earn a ticket to the World Cup.
The third-placed teams across the four games face off to determine the additional two slots, thus making a total representation of Africa with ten teams.
