Round of 32: URA FC Vs KCC FC
Date: Tuesday March 24, 2015
Where: Mehta Grounds, Lugazi – 4pm
Ahead of the round of 32 Uganda Cup clash with KCC FC, URA FC Coach Alex Isabirye is an unhappy man after striker Robert Ssentongo was included in Uganda Cranes squad to face Nigeria on Wednesday.
Ssentongo is part of the team that Cranes Coach Mulitin ‘Micho’s Sredojevic took to Nigeria and thus will miss the crucial tie against KCC on Tuesday. After his side’s last training session Isabirye told Kawowo Sports:
I feel aggrieved for what was done. They know he is our main striker, they know we have a crucial game but still include him in the squad. Moreover for a friendly game,
Ssentongo has failed to break into the Cranes starting eleven ahead of Geoffrey Massa, Emmanuel Okwi and Brian Umony and this hasn’t gone unnoticed.
You’ve Umony and Massa available. These are same guys that start ahead of him. Why still bother Ssentongo then.
The fact that no KCC player is on the team to face Nigeria further left Isabirye aggrieved.
Previously, Micho has summoned between 6-7 players on the national team, why not now when they have a clash with URA,
Nevertheless, the ex-SCOUL, Express and SC Villa forward believes his side can still progress without Ssentongo.
We’ve options to fill his void and am confident we can still win without him though we would have badly needed his services.
