Edrine Ekau dropped 32 points as Rezlife Saints edged Namuwongo Blazers in a closely contested encounter.
Rezlife Saints secured a well-deserved 73-71 victory against Nam Blazers in the National Basketball League encounter in Lubowa on Wednesday.
The game started on a slow note but later they grew in rhythm, though the Rezlife Saints opened a five-point (19-14) lead at the end of the opening frame.
Ekau took matters into his hands as the hosts took charge in the second quarter, thus levelling the game 35-35 going into the long break.
Coming from the half-time break, the Saints kept pressure on the ball with the hustle in the paint as the game was still levelled 51-51 at the end of the third frame.
After going toe to toe, Chris Basheke Omanye’s three-point jump shot created a five-point lead (63-58). The guard gave the team calmness and rhythm as they secured a two-point victory.
Duot Ajag (14 points) and Omanye (11 points) joined Ekau in the double-digit column for the Rezlife Saints.
James Okello (15 points), Jimmy Enabu (14 points) and Fataki Nyembo (10 points) led the Blazers’ scoring chart in the double digits.
