The Prime Minister for the Republic of Uganda Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja has donated Ug.Shs 20,000,000 to the newly crowned Stanbic Uganda Cup winners Kitara Football Club.
Rt. Hon. Nabanja, the patron for Kitara Football Club revealed the donation on Friday, 12th June 2026 in Hoima city during the launch of the construction of Hoima Booma training facility and emergency ward at Hoima Referral Hospital.
“On behalf of the office of the prime minister, I will give you Ug.Shs 20,000,000 to support you (for the upcoming new season locally and internationally)” she remarked.
The club officials led by the president Deo Kasozi and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Joshua Atugonza officially handed over the Stanbic of Uganda Cup trophy to the overwhelmed Rt. Hon. Nabanja.
She was flanked by the minister of state for sports Hon. Peter Ogwang, the Chairperson of National Council of Sports (NCS) Ambrose Tashobya, General Secretary Patrick Bernard Ogwel and other officials from the ministry of education and sports.
In the same vein, the minister of state of sports Hon. Ogwang confirmed that Kitara Football Club will host the CAF Confederation Cup games at the newly constructed Hoima City stadium.
“Kitara Football Club will host the CAF Confederation games at the Hoima City stadium” Minister Ogwang declared amid excitement from the people.
Whilst Kitara will represent Uganda at the CAF Confederation Cup competition, Vipers will play in the CAF Champions League.
Kitara won the Stanbic Uganda Cup after a 2-1 victory in the final over Sports Club Villa at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
This was the second time that Kitara won this knock out football tournament since the 2023-2024 season when they edged NEC 1-0 at the Muteesa II Wankulukuku stadium, Kabowa.
For starters, the Hoima City stadium is one of the facilities constructed by the Government of Uganda to co-host the TotalEnergies AFCON 2027 tournament, alongside Kenya and Tanzania.
